Psychotherapy and Evidence-based, Comprehensive Care

Psychotherapy at the Point Loma Clinic is a collaborative process, aimed at addressing a range of mental health conditions in adults and children. Therapeutic interventions involves exploring thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to facilitate positive change and enhance well-being.  Our team is trained in evidence-based modalities such a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other therapeutic techniques. Treatments is tailored to the individual needs of patients to help them cope with depression, OCD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder,, social anxiety, addictions, relationship issues, and other mental health conditions.
In addition to traditional psychotherapeutic approaches, we incorporate self-regulation techniques, biofeedback, ketamine-coordinated therapy, medication support, and other strategies to help clients manage their symptoms.  Our team works collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and goals. At Point Loma Clinic, we prioritize creating a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions.
We practice a collaborative care model, where we keep in close contact with your other providers, if you choose.  If those other providers are at the Point Loma Clinic, the process is seemless as we discuss your care frequently and comprehensively.

Research has consistently shown that combined medication treatment and psychotherapy are more effective in treating depression and anxiety than either treatment alone. While medications can provide rapid relief of symptoms, psychotherapy enhances long-term outcomes by addressing the root causes of distress and helping individuals develop lasting coping skills. Collaborative care between a psychologist and psychiatrist ensures that patients receive the most effective and tailored treatment possible, leading to improved overall mental health and well-being.
